iTero Element 5D Plus: Advanced Photochemical Intraoral Scanner

We have a state-of-the-art photochemical intraoral scanner called iTero Element 5D Plus.
The iTero plays a very important role in Invisalign treatment and can be used to take molds for mouthpiece orthodontic (Invisalign) treatment.

The introduction of this equipment has created many benefits for patients and has allowed for smoother treatment.

iTero Element 5D Plus in Invisalign Orthodontic Treatment

Understanding the Goals of Orthodontic Treatment

With orthodontic treatment using wires, it is difficult to visualize how the teeth will look after treatment, but by sending the data taken with the itero to the dedicated simulation software, you can see how the teeth will move during treatment on the screen and how the treatment will look at the end of treatment.

The vast amount of past treatment data allows us to accurately predict the duration of treatment, making it easier for both the patient and us to plan for the future.
In addition to the goal, we can also show you a simple simulation on the spot to help you decide whether or not to start orthodontic treatment.

Know the progress of your orthodontic treatment

Using the data taken by iTero Element 5D Plus it is possible to check if there is any difference between the original treatment plan and the current progress.
By comparing the data taken before the start of treatment with the most recent data, it is also possible to see how much teeth have moved, allowing you to better realize the benefits of orthodontic treatment!

Safe for the body

Since iTero does not use any radiation, there is absolutely no adverse effect when used on children or pregnant women who are concerned about the effects of radiation from X-rays.
In addition, the tip (sleeve) of the scanner that is inserted into the mouth is disposable, so it is not used more than once and replaced. Therefore, there is no need to worry about hygiene.

Shows invisible cavities and tartar  iTero Element 5D Plus

In addition to the intraoral scanning function of the conventional iTero , the latest iTero Element 5D Plus introduced at our clinic now features “near-infrared light imaging technology” using near-infrared rays.
Near-infrared light is a type of electromagnetic wave that is invisible to humans and has a wavelength longer than that of visible light.

Near-infrared rays have no color or heat characteristics, but are most easily absorbed by objects. In addition, these near-infrared rays are safe light, which is also found in sunlight.
When light containing these near-infrared rays is shone on a subject, differences in the characteristics of the light reflected or absorbed by the subject (skin, moisture, produce, pharmaceuticals, packaging, and electronic components) will appear in the image due to differences in the materials of the subject.

Currently, this technology is used to determine the freshness of agricultural products, to inspect foreign substances in food products, to analyze the composition of pharmaceuticals, and in the medical field, including the inspection and observation of biological tissues.

By scanning teeth using these characteristics, it is possible to detect tooth decay between teeth that cannot be seen with the eye, tooth decay that has spread to the interior, and tartar in areas that are difficult to see, making medical examinations more accurate and safer without the use of x-rays.
