We believe that routine examination is the most important step for getting to understand your dental status up to date.
We recommend regular routine check-ups on a 6 monthly basis and this will enable us to scan your teeth and gum condition very thoroughly – this is called “ Comprehensive Examination”.
To be able to scan your oral condition accurately and precisely, we utilize Velscope, Microscope, Intra-oral Camera, Digital Decay Detector and X-ray scanning.
Velscope (Oral Cancer Screening Device)
Oral cancer’s high mortality rate is due to the fact that the disease is usually discovered in late stages. We would be the second dental clinic in Australia supplementing the white light oral cancer exam with the VELscope system which can detect cancerous and precancerous lesions that might not be apparent to the naked eye.
Microscope-enhanced Dentistry
You can’t treat what you can’t see!
One of the most important aspects of dental care at our clinic is early detection and accurate treatment of potential problems.
Since 2004, along with other top 3 % of Australian dentists, we have been utilising high-tech microscopes as part of your preventive and treatment care at all of our clinic studios and this enables our team to precisely examine your teeth and perform operations at a microscopic level.
When using high magnification during procedures, we are able to see microscopic details that are impossible to visualise with the naked eye or special magnification glasses.
By using surgical operating microscopes, dental restorations can become incredibly precise fit and finished. Microscope-enhanced dentistry enables a clinical precision in dental care that is exceptional in every respect. Our ability to implement very high levels of magnification to improve diagnosis and treatment is transforming the level of care we can provide you.
Dr. Kim has been using microscope for treatment since 2004 and he is also a member of International Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry.
Laser Digital Decay Detector – Diagnodent
30 % of top European dentists use Diagnodent (Laser Digital Decay Detector) when they examine patients for decays scanning.
The Diagnodent helps detect dental caries at the earliest possible stage so that the most appropriate treatment can be presented to you.
Diagnodent uses laser that finds hidden cavities which lie beneath the surface of the tooth. This is so important as there are often cavities that x-rays and the dentist’s sharp instrumental findings simply cannot find. This advanced Laser technology helps to preserve a greater amount of your tooth structure by uncovering dental decay before it progresses too far.
Please remember that the larger the size of filling you receive, it will have future re-decay around it sooner. And every time you receive new filling to replace the existing filling for re-decay, the cavity gets larger and deeper. It may soon require Root Canal Therapy.
So, Diagnodent scanning can indirectly help you to get the more conservative and longer lasting filling, in the event of decay formation.
Scaling and Topical Fluoride Application
As Australian Dental Association recommends, we promote regular scaling and cleaning. Scaling removed the tartar (calcified bacterial deposit) and stain on the teeth surface. By doing so, we can prevent future gum recession and periodontitis.
Digital X-ray recording
Routine X-ray check
Decay which was not found through visual check by dentist, may be seen on a routine X-ray check.
OPG Panoramic X-ray
We also use full face digital X-ray, to aid in determining the impaction of wisdom teeth or condition of gum condition.
This shows location of impacted lower wisdom teeth on both left and right.
